A September Break for Detection Engineering Weekly

10 September 2026 at 18:40

Dear readers,

I want to send a quick note to all of you about this month’s newsletter schedule. As some of my closer friends and family know, my mother recently passed away after a years-long fight with dementia and Alzheimer’s. It’s been hard on our family and for me. I spent a week back home last month, and as soon as we returned, we jumped right back into the crazy thing known as life. Small kids, family life, the newsletter, and work have all been manageable for me to balance for the last four years.

It has not felt manageable for the last few weeks. Issues have been hard to draft because I’ve been understandably distracted and grieving. I certainly feel β€œover capacity”, and I think what’s best for me is to take some time off from the newsletter so I can come back refreshed. So, the next issue will be the first week in October. I’m going to take some much-needed time off. πŸ™‚

For sponsors: no disruption in your placements, and in fact, I’m booking for early to mid fall. Feel free to reach out to me so I can get y’all what you need.

If anyone would like to support research into battling dementia and Alzheimer’s, please check out the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and make a donation. I would certainly appreciate it.

Donate to the Alzheimer's Foundation

Talk to you all soon!

Zack
